Creating Value, Inspiring Vision. the Singapore way

Second week in Hanoi

It’s been a relatively quiet week yet. I spent much of the weekend recuperating. Somehow, I found aspirin works better than paracetamol. Anyways, I have to give credit to the Halida beer too. Had 8 cans in the afternoon. that was enough to allow me some much needed sleep. I turned down GH’s invitation to visit some museum somewhere. I figured it was best I rested in the apartment. This is the first time I have been unwell away from home. No matter, I’m going to pack some basic medication on my next trip.

Yesterday was the first time it rained since I arrived in Hanoi. There were some light and short but frequent showers throughout the day. I had intended to live on bread and water for the weekend but ants had to spoil my raisin loaves. GH and myself did head out for dinner eventually. The choice of dinner location has to be a first for me with GH.

There’s a little street side stall just 3 minutes away from the apartment. For 50,000 VND (SGD 5.00) per head, you get a hot plate and some meat (most probably beef) and some vegetables. Although a light and simple meal, it was sufficient for me. I wasn’t too game on having too much on my plate anyway. The night was a cool one though I didn’t get much sleep. Think it was just 2 hours or so before I woke up. Shuffling between my laptop and surfing cable television from 11:30 to 07:00, there was a lot on my mind.

Today was the first time I stole out of the project office in the afternoon for a bit. There wasn’t much I could accomplish since my team is still waiting on the rest. Somehow, I believe things will change in the coming weeks. Sitting on the terrace of the cafe, thoughts went through my mind. I began to ponder and wonder… Deep in my thoughts… Shutting out the outside world… I remember seeing the traffic rushing by below me… However, I don’t recall hearing any blaring horns… Guess I was spacing out in to my own space…

Anyway, I went back to the DVD store today and grabbed Seasons 1-10 of Friends. Cost me 150,000 VND. I’m not complaining…
