Bumped to Business Class
Ok, I’m back on this island I call home once again. For the next week and a half, I will be tied up with quite a few things. Getting in touch with Sierra to confirm a couple of deals is high on my agenda. There’s also some stuff to deliver to Neutron after the last workshop. A meeting has already been setup to explore next steps forward. JP is attending that one in my absence. It should be all good in JP’s hands.
There’s my session of physiotherapy at SGH. A visit to the local representatives of University of Leicester and not the least important, I got to send my laptop in for servicing. The ‘f’ key doesn’t quite stick and it’s been quite irritating for the past 2 weeks. I’m not counting on it but I’m hoping to to pickup a new X61s before I travel again. On my next trip out, I will probably will not be back till the project in Hanoi is completed.
There were some screw ups with the taxi to the airport this morning leading to delays. I had called the cab company yesterday to book a taxi for this morning. Interestingly, the radio operator dispatched the taxi yesterday instead of this morning. After a couple of phone calls from both the cab driver and the operator, that was sorted out. This morning, the taxi ended up at the wrong pickup point.
Somehow, 214 became 124 and it wasn’t until 09:00 that the taxi showed up at the apartment. I think the operator had been frantically trying to dispatch a taxi to my location after she realised that there had been a mess up on the pickup address. Less than a minute into my journey to the airport, the cab driver told me 2 other taxi drivers were at the wrong location and screaming at the radio operator. That would mean at least 3 taxis were dispatch by the operator. The best I could make out of the chatter on the radio in the background was probably cursing and swearing by 2 angry drivers.
By the time I had checked in, it was 10 minutes to boarding. Any hopes of grabbing some grub before I got on the plane were dashed. It wasn’t all that bad really. I was upgraded to Business Class somehow. The office had originally booked me on an Economy Class seat. maybe arriving late does have an advantage at times. Sure beats being assigned a seat right in the back of the plane.

I haven’t decided on what I’m going to do this weekend. The gloomy weather isn’t going to make a trip to Sentosa fruitful. Otherwise, I need to get a haircut…
